Aquatherm's PP-R Pipe prescribed at prestigious Harvard Medical School

Large dose of Aquatherm's PP-R Pipe prescribed at prestigious Harvard Medical School for Retrofit/Heating and Cooling Distribution.

Aquatherm used their famous Green Pipe and Blue Pipe for the project.

The Challenge:

The copper supply lines feeding the fan coil units were leaking at the joints and corroding and a corrosion-resistant temporary/permanent chiller line was needed to facilitate a repair in the mechanical room.

The Solution:

On two separate jobs Aquatherm delivered excellent results inspiring HMS to use PP-R on several other project, including the replacement of a leaking buried chilled water line.

  • The advantages of using Aquatherm:

  • As Aquatherm pipe is corrosion-resistant, the "temporary/permanent" pipeline didn't need to be charged with nitrogen to prevent rusting, as would have been necessary with steel piping

  • Aquatherm pipe is cold-resistant and has seismic capabilities

  • HMS received a comprehensive 10-year warranty coving the pipes, the fittings and any incidental damage caused by material failure from manufacture defect

Rob Behrent, Facilities Engineering, Harvard Medical School, Boston said:

We were initially going to use CPVC, but after much consideration, the cold-resistant characteristics and seismic capabilities of Aquatherm's piping were driving factors in the decision. CPVC can get brittle and offeres very little seismic capability compared to Aquatherm.
